In a survey of 27 adults, Lonely Planet travel guide were voted the top publisher for travel books. In a survey conducted by BookishWorm Staff 15 of 27 adults prefer Lonely Planet guide books and ask for Lonely Planet by name. 6 respondents said they prefer Moon guides. (1) person indicated they prefer Frommer's. Five people indicated they do not have a preference or that the guide book they choose depended on where they were traveling. 2 of 27 indicated that they like having ebooks, and a appreciated the the portability. A majority of respondent indicated that they do not like buying ebook versions of travel books for fear of damaging their ebook reader or laptop while on vacation. Some respondents indicated that they like to browse travel books at the library or at a bookstore before committing to making a purchase. 60% (16) indicated that they prefer to buy travel books online, mainly because of the greater selection.
While no respondents indicated they like Rough Guide travel books, we believe this is still a popular publisher. The lack of people selecting Rough Guide might be related to the small sample size.
